<p>Reducing our Environmental Footprint: In FY22, Richemont was recognised for its <strong>leadership in corporate sustainability</strong> by the global environmental non-profit organisation CDP, achieving a place on its ‘A List’ for tackling climate change, one of 200 companies out of 12,000 ranked. Our top ranking is testament to our colleagues’ hard work at Richemont, who have enabled us to progress on our Science Based Targets (SBT). Validated by the Science-Based Target initiative in September 2021, our SBTs provide us with a clearly defined pathway to reduce our impact on climate change, while future-proofing our business for greener growth.</p>
<p>Amplifying our Social Handprint: We are honoured to be ranked on the World&#8217;s Best Employers 2021 by Forbes, recognising our ongoing transformation to become a people-centric and inclusive organisation that offers our colleagues greater listening and support across their entire employee journey. As part of our commitment to amplifying our social impact and improving transparency, we concluded our first <strong>Product Social Impact Assessment (PSIA) on artisanal and small-scale mined (ASM) gold</strong> and designed an approach for future social projects. Through the PSIA, we evaluate specific operators and measure their overall social and human rights performance. Over 95% of gold purchased is recycled and RJC &#8216;Chain of Custody&#8217; certified. Our target is to be <strong>100% CoC by 2025</strong>. Working to positively impact the communities where we operate, in 2021, we <strong>donated a total of over €42 million to community investment-related initiatives</strong>. In under five years, we have given 40% of all donations to charities concerned with healthcare, social and economic development, education, women, and children&#8217;s welfare.</p>

<p><strong>In 2020 we declared our new vision at the corporate level to include sustainability as one of our five core values. Moreover, our CEO HC Shin committed our company to carbon neutral growth and RE100 by 2050, a first for a Korean chemical company.</strong></p>

<p>Our sustainability strategy contributes in a significant way to serve our company purpose. Sustainable development means for us to combine economic success, social responsibility and environmental protection. Facing the world’s growing population and limited resources we see three major areas in which innovations based on our chemistry will play a key role: resources, environment and climate, food and nutrition and quality of life.</p>

<p><strong>Preserving food and food production (SDG2)</strong> is about creating a sustainable food system capable of feeding a growing population, given the boundaries of our planet. Corbion’s solutions for shelf life extension, food safety, animal health and aquaculture support this ambition. We also collaborate with our agriculture-derived raw material suppliers to promote sustainable agriculture and ensure deforestation-free sourcing.</p>
<p><strong>Preserving health (SDG3)</strong> is about supporting healthy lives and promoting well-being at all ages. Corbion’s solutions for health care, pharma, nutrition and hygiene contribute to some of the underlying targets defined for SDG3. We also care for the health and wellbeing of our own employees and supply chain partners.</p>
<p><strong>Preserving our planet (SDG12)</strong> is about moving toward a circular economy. Biobased chemicals and materials from Corbion play an essential role in promoting SDG12 and helping to create a circular economy. SDG12 also includes food waste reduction as a subtarget, and our work to create zero waste, improve energy efficiency, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and implement our new circular production technology in our manufacturing plants also contributes to this goal.</p>

<p>By 2050 there will be nine billion of us living on this planet. As a species we are growing, we are aging, but most importantly we are changing. And unfortunately the modern world that man has helped to create isn’t always ideal for sustaining a stable and prosperous future. This is precisely why sustainability is our fundamental business driver. Virtually everything we do is now being driven by sustainability and the major global challenges and trends. We therefore embrace what’s known as the Triple P concept: People, Planet and Profit.</p>
<h3>People</h3>
<p>Our brand promise is to create brighter lives for <a href="https://www.dsm.com/corporate/home.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">people</a> today and for generations to come. That means improving lives through our activities, products and innovations as set out in our <a href="https://www.dsm.com/suppliers/en_US/sustainability/sustainability-programs.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">People+</a> program. It also means sustaining and even saving lives. For example, our work with the World Food Programme is a true social partnership where our MixMe® nutrient package has helped tackle hidden hunger for some 10 million people and counting. Our solutions also benefit people in many other ways, from materials used in life protection gear like helmets and vests, to biomedical products that are extending active life.</p>
<h3>Planet</h3>

This is why today 95% of all the products in our innovation pipeline are ECO+ – in other words they have a smaller environmental footprint than equivalent products while providing greater value and benefits. From world-record breaking coatings for solar cells, to solvent-free paints, to plastics made from castor and rapeseed oil instead of mineral oil (some of which are also halogen-free) – this is the fruit of our labors. Meanwhile we continue to make our own manufacturing processes – in fact entire value chains – more energy efficient and less wasteful.</p>

<p><strong>How BASF applies datatools</strong><br />
Currently the Roundtable members are further developing the experience with datatools. During the S-LCA Conference in Gotenburg BASF presented  the experience with several of these datatools e.g., Maplecroft, Reprisk, and Ecovadis. These datatools are used to determine and assess hotspots in the value chains. By  doing this several scenarios for production can be evaluated and compared.
